A complete lighting scheme covering the patio, the fire pit circle, the steps and the planting, so the garden keeps working after dark.
The hours a garden is actually free to be used are mostly after dark.
Most of the year, the people who paid for a patio get home after the light has gone. Lighting is what returns those hours, and it is designed at the same time as everything else rather than added on afterwards.
How it is laid out
The scheme works in layers. Downlights from the house and the trees wash the paving with enough light to move around safely. Bed lights uplight the shrub and tree planting so the garden has depth instead of stopping at the edge of the patio. Step and wall lights mark every change in level.
The effect
The fire pit circle at the far end is lit softly enough that the fire is still the brightest thing in it, and the flagstone path back to the house reads clearly the whole way. Lighting design and installation sits under our softscape work, and it goes in alongside the planting it is there to show off.
